Club News

Welcome all to the start of another new season down CRFC. Only this is already shaping up to be, not just ‘another’ season. The off-season has seen a significant amount of work going on behind the scenes, with the introduction of a new coaching set up in Scott Conduit & Doz Ward. Their impact has already had a marked impact on not just the numbers at training, but the standard of rugby being played. Things are certainly looking good on the playing side.

We’ve also seen some developments with the introduction of Tom Skinner as Club Captain, and Joel Faber as 2nd Team captain. They both have my full support and I’m confident we have the right men in place to deliver us success on the pitch. Their introduction coincides with Dave Carruthers’ move into the role of Social Secretary. This is a notoriously tough job (I know – I’ve done it – and the less said about one or two of the discos I attempted, the better!) Dave is most definitely the man for this job however, and I look forward to enjoying the fruits of his labour! First off, we have the annual Ladies Night on October 2nd. Speak to Dave for more information.

As always, our club will be expertly, and warmly marshalled by Liz & Paul who always offer the best welcome in local rugby, with a warm smile, and cold pint. Make sure you come down to enjoy the beer and the smiles!

Approaching the onset of the season, I have one request – don’t be a stranger to your club. We have worked hard to make it a better environment, both on the pitch and in the bar. Come down, buy a beer, enjoy the atmosphere, enjoy the rugby, and enjoy your club.

It’s going to be a great year. Make sure you’re part of it.

See you soon.
