Experimental Law Variations

There are new laws being put in place prior to the 08/09 season.

All players should read these here

A summary of these has been added below

Law 17 - Maul
2 - Remove reference to head and shoulders not being lower than hips.
3 - Players are able to defend a maul by pulling it down.

Law 19 - Touch and Lineout

5 - A quick throw in may be thrown in straight or towards the throwing team’s own goal line.
6 - There is no restriction on the number of players from either team who can participate in the lineout.
7 - The receiver at the lineout must be 2 metres away from the lineout.
8 - The player who is in opposition to the player throwing in the ball must stand in the area between
the 5-metre line and the touch line but must be 2 metres away from the 5-metre line.
9 - Lineout players may pre-grip a jumper before the ball is thrown in.
10 - The lifting of lineout players is permitted.

against the post.

PRE SEASON TRAINING STARTS!

Preparations for next season start tonight 17 June 17, 2008 with some touch and BBQ, and we will build up from next week with full pre season. It is only 12 sessions till the new season starts so we need players (especially 1st team) but the more the better. We welcome Paul ‘Woody’ Wood to the coaching team and once again Stuart Harvey will lead the sessions.

Last season was mixed on the pitch but as a group we improved as the year went on so let’s push on from that with big numbers at training.

Lets remember that both Stuart and Woody will be giving up there free time not just on a Tuesday but organizing and sorting sessions before that as well, and they don’t get the privilege of playing on a Saturday. So whilst I know we all have busy lives away from the club its not too much to ask for you guys to commit to 2 hours one night a week to help ensure we have a successful season on the pitch this year. Its down to YOU the players to ensure your mates are there on a Tuesday and that we are not faced with just 3 forwards and not be able to work on line out and scrums etc. if you mate is not there ring him and give him s**t

See you all Tuesday night
